Etsy Business

I have dedicated the last few months, working like a crazy person, to open my very own Etsy shop to sell my handmade pieced pillows and I can't believe that the day is finally here!  You are probably thinking, "Landen?  Really?  A fabulous pillow maker? You?"  Believe me, if you had told me 8 months ago that I would be dreaming of, drawing and making pillows on a daily basis, I would have laughed right along with you.  I am a fashionista, right (um... sort of...)?  But I also happen to love sewing and creating with fabric in general.  I had not seriously thought of opening an Etsy shop until my mom suggested it back in December when we went out to Las Vegas for Christmas.  She and I have always shared a love for fabrics She had been given literally hundreds of scrap and sample pieces of the most amazing fabrics by an interior designer that she was friends with, but due to their small size, they would be challenging to use in anything larger than a pillow. I brought a few of these back from our trip and after lots of thinking, rethinking and trying to figure out how to use 200 3x8 pieces of fabric, designed and started sewing pillows.  The first two or three took me such a long time to make (I wanted to tear my hair out a few times), but once I figured out the best ways to pattern and assemble them, the process moved forward as I made time to make them. I love the creativity that I am able to use with each one of them.  Each is such a frustrating, but exciting adventure.  It has been so amazing to see them growing from an idea and some beautiful fabric into a real life pillow cover to sell!  It has been so fun, and I am thrilled to be able to share them with you today!

  4. There is always a beautiful story behind all success, and it’s good to read about yours. You may have struggled at the beginning of your journey, with all the planning and designing part. But seeing how your business grows now, it’s all worth it. And I hope it will continue to be that way. Cheers!
