Reboot

Monday, February 23, 2015

I have been putting off writing this post for about 3 months now, because I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to say about it...  With a new baby, quitting my job and becoming a stay at home mom, I feel like my life is changing rapidly, as are my goals and ambitions!  I am sure this is how most people feel about having children, but I know my lifestyle is changing, and I also feel like this blog needs to change, too.  Loads of people change their blogs at the New Year, and I am no different (okay, so it is almost March...) and I am ready for a reboot.

When I first started this blog, I had visions of becoming a super awesome fashion blogger who looked amazing in every post, and inspired women everywhere to dress well and be happy with the way that they look. I still feel like that is important, but I don't feel like the woman for the job, and honestly, I don't want to be the woman for the job.  That is Merrick's job, and she is amazing at it.

Since we moved to Austin, I have had a complete shift in paradigm, and feel strongly about eating real food, choosing an eco-friendly lifestyle (who would have thought!?  Certainly not my 22-year old self!), reducing the 'stuff' that I have,  and generally choosing to live an intentional life.  This change in blog focus has been a long time coming, and will take a few months for me to get things totally up to speed with a recipe index and some changes to the layout of my blog, but I am really excited to shift the focus (and rename my blog...!), and try something that feels more like the current me.  In fact, if you look the last 6 or so months of blogging, my content has shifted this direction anyway, with a lot more recipes and less outfit/outfit collage posts.

As I transition to a new theme, I will be mainly focusing on making and eating real food (not low fat, real ingredients and overall healthy and practical), with a little 'living with less',  and the occasional outfit and baby post thrown in. I love the idea of having a more concrete theme and talking about things that I think about and talk about for fun.  So now is my time to get real and share the things I am truly passionate about right now.  I really hope you will continue to follow along.  If you don't, I understand, and I have loved having so many kind comments, and lots of support from you all!  Thanks for a great era and here's to an even better one!

  2. Awesome! I'm glad you found something you can run with and be passionate about. It's so hard to pinpoint specific things, but once you find them, you're golden. I speak as a woman who just recently found her calling, as well.

Own it, lady. You're going to be/have always been amazing!

    1. Kelsey, thank you so much! That is so fun that you follow all three of us! I love having sisters that blog, and feel like it gives us such a connection that we wouldn't have otherwise, especially when we live about as far away as you can live in the continental US from each other. I hope I can deliver some real gem recipes! Thanks for the support!

    1. Seriously, Caitlin! I actually love blogging, but kind of felt like it was becoming a chore to write the posts, even though I think about them all the time. I am so glad to be moving onto something that I think will bring me more joy and be a little easier to write about! Thanks for following along!
