The other day, I was trying to come up with some brilliant new recipe idea, and totally needed some new ideas. I try to cook pretty seasonally, so I was looking at a list of fall vegetables, and was surprised at some of the foods the list!
I do a lot of recipe hunting and look up stuff like this relatively often, but maybe you don't. Maybe you want to cook more seasonally, too, but don't actually know what is in season right now (this is subject to change if you live somewhere outside of the continental US). This guide is for you! And me. Because I don't always know what is in season either.
Fall Vegetables (parentheses indicate peak season for that vegetable):
List from The Vegetarian Flavor Bible(aka, my favorite food resource of late)
Artichokes (Sept - Oct)
Bell Peppers (Sept)
Brussels Sprouts (Nov - Feb)
Celery Root (Oct - Nov)
Kale (Nov - Jan)
Kohlrabi (Sept - Nov)
Pumpkin (Sept - Dec)
Squash (butternut, acorn, buttercup, delicata, kabocha)
If I left something out (which I probably did), feel free to add it in the comments! Happy Fall!
