Peaceful

This weekend, my parents came into town, and we went canoeing on Lady Bird Lake in Downtown Austin.  We had never been before, and I had heard that it was really fun, but I honestly hadn't thought seriously about going anytime soon.  My parents love the idea, so we decided we would check it out.  We rented our little canoes and as we headed up the lake, I was amazed at how peaceful and quiet it was, especially for being right in the center of downtown.  Once we got away from the bridges and jogging trails, trees and cliffs surround the lake and there are some houses overlooking it, but the section that we were paddling down was so peaceful and beautiful.  The trees were just beginning to change color, there were turtles sunning on logs, beautiful white and grey cranes and the occasional fish leaping out of the water.  This past year has been so busy and filled with lots of stresses and adventures, and it was so nice to step outside of the city for a moment and just be.  Maybe you don't have a canoe to escape to, but I hope that sometime this week, you will take a minute to go outside, enjoy the beautiful fall weather and just be.
