Hot Cocoa

Saturday, November 23, 2013

The cold front finally hit us this week.  It has been SO cold (okay, okay, I should stop whining, because it is only like 45 degrees and raining, but it feels so cold! And I am a wimp).  It is finally feeling like winter and thus the hot cocoa making begins!  Nothing like a good cup of chocolate to drive out the cold!

Hot Cocoa:
original recipe found here
1/6 cup water
1 1/2 - 2 Tbs Sugar
1 Tbs Cocoa Powder
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
pinch of salt
3/4 cup of milk

Heat up water in a microwave safe cup in the microwave until it reaches a rolling boil.  Remove from the microwave and add sugar and cocoa powder.  Stir until all the lumps are gone.  Add salt and vanilla extract.  Stir to combine.  Add milk in a long steady stream and stir until combined.  Heat mixture in the microwave to make hot cocoa, refrigerate to make chocolate milk or just drink in the lukewarm deliciousness.  See original recipe to make multiple servings.

  1. I love homemade hot chocolate! To drink it made from the packet is unthinkable. I love that this recipe is for one...thanks for sharing!
