Keeping It Real: Pencil Skirt

Friday, August 8, 2014

I love that pencil skirts are back in.  As a teenager and even into my early 20's I found it difficult to feel comfortable in them because they made me feel like I have massive hips (which for my size, I kind of do).  As an adult, I handle this problem in a slightly more mature way by ignoring it, and buying skirts that fit properly.  Pencil skirts are so versatile and I wanted to show you how I like to dress them up, and dress them down.

1.  Add a light t-shirt and flat sandals for an everyday relaxed look

2.  Dress it up with a cardigan (over-air conditioned buildings makes this possible!), blouse and bow scarf with some wedges for put-together look that will be great for work, or a night out!

  1. What pattern did you use for this skirt? I'm just getting into sewing and I'd love to make one like this for myself!

    1. Mia, I used this simplicity pattern and have been really happy with it! I think mine is just from JoAnn's.
