Raiding My Sister's Closet: Black and White

Tuesday, May 6, 2014

Like most people, I go through phases of colors or types of clothing that I like wearing.  Just yesterday I was telling Adam about this 'awesome' outfit that I wore in high school that included a hot pink tank top, a bright blue long sleeve shirt and pink camouflage Converse All-Stars with a bright ribbon 'necklace'. It made me feel so fabulous at age 16.  Today, I might feel a little less cool in said outfit.  Moving on from high school to college, I definitely saw an increase of black in my wardrobe.  Black makes an 18 year-old feel mature and serious (the key word being 'feel'.  Don't think it helped me all that much...).  That is what I wanted and so I wore a lot of black.  Since moving to Texas, I wear a lot more color, partially because black is hot in 104 degree weather and partially because I love wearing pretty colors, but every once in a while, I just loving pulling out an all black outfit, or mostly black outfit. Black with white always feels so crisp and put together.  This outfit was a new combo that I had never tried before, and I absolutely loved it!  The peplum shirt and sweater adds a little trendy/fun element, while the black jeans and heels, and classic colors ground it.  This is a great day to night outfit too.  Not to fancy for the grocery store, and fun enough for a night on the town.
