Raiding My Sister's Closet: A Current Favorite

Tuesday, July 15, 2014

A 'favorite' item of clothing is so subjective.  I have a few shirts that I loved a few years ago, and now, I almost never wear them.  Occasionally I will try them on and they just don't have them same zip they held before.  Some clothes just make you feel good, and I think it is important to wear those clothes often, even if you feel slightly lame wearing the same thing every week or two.  After all, isn't it better to wear 5-6 shirts that make you feel gorgeous frequently rather than wearing 30 shirts that only make you feel okay?  I think so.  Anyway, moving onto this particular piece, this was a recent acquisition from J.C. Penney that I love the fit, the material and the pattern on.  I am a very average height woman (about 5'5"ish) and my other maxi dress is about 3 inches too long, so I was thrilled when this one fit pretty perfectly. I love the beautiful geometric pattern.  I have a feeling I will be wearing this quite often this summer, because it is light, cool and can be dressed up, or dressed down.  This one is going to be an "I feel awesome in this" dress.

  2. Love maxi dresses! They're the best of both worlds for summer in the south. I'm really short (5'0) and I've found the only maxi dresses that are appropriate length for me come from Ann Taylor and the LOFT petite sections. So you might try their normal length dresses for something that also isn't three inches too long.

    1. That is a great idea! I haven't spent too much time in Ann Taylor (perhaps a mistake?), but I have looked at LOFT's dresses lots of times, and they have some real beauties! Thank you for sending this wonderful suggestion along! I will definitely need to go look at Ann Taylor and LOFT!

    1. Thanks, Janssen! Ironically, people actually started mentioning that I looked pregnant the day I took these pictures. I think the wide straight stripe down the front made it more obvious that my tummy is starting to grow just slightly! But I had to be standing just so to see it.
