Raiding My Sister's Closet: Valentine's Day Pink and Red

Tuesday, February 3, 2015

On our first wedding anniversary, we went to dinner at a lovely little semi-upscale restaurant that I had heard good things about.  It was a decent night: the food was okay, the service was fair, and the company was good.  It certainly wasn't the fanciest place out there, but we spent a fair bit more than we would have spent for a usual night out. Afterward, both of us commented that we wished we hadn't spent so much on a 'okay' meal, and decided that for future anniversaries, we would rather go to one of our favorite places, where we know we will love the food and not have to spend an arm and a leg for it.  Since then, we have always gone to our favorite burger joint for our anniversary.  I know this is definitely not for everyone, and some people love spending a lot of money on a good meal (I do love a good meal!), but I feel like that doesn't have to be the only option for Valentine's day.  Actually, we haven't ever gone out to eat on Valentine's Day (I hate the crowds at restaurants... It kills the romantic in me and makes it feel like it is a less special night, because everyone else and their dog is out celebrating their relationship too), but if we did,  I would probably opt to go to a less-fancy favorite in lieu of a super expensive restaurant.  Because this would be my first choice, my pink and red "Valentine's Day" outfit is casual/rocker, rather than a really fancy dress or skirt. This outfit is great for going out in, but a little more accessible.  I love pairing pink and red, which can be a little challenging, but when you put the cranberry pants with an almost peach/pink shirt, I think the combo just sings!
