Raiding My Sister's Closet: Dressing up for Summer

Tuesday, July 7, 2015

Over the past year or so, I have been trying to hone in on my personal style, as well as reduce the number of items in my closet.  Too many items means indecision, frustration, and consistently unattractive outfit combinations for me.  So when my parents came to visit us in Lyon last week, and my mom and I went to do some early birthday shopping, I tried to be actively discerning.

I wanted to pick items that would last, that I would still love wearing in a few years, and that were a little more classic looking than a lot of the clothes I currently have.  I also wanted something that would dress up and down pretty easily.  It is nice to have a few pieces that you can wear both with sandals as well as with stilettos.

This dress is just such a piece.  It is a very simple shape, but because of the beautiful fabric and lovely cut, it looks quite dressy without feeling fussy. It is perfect for the hot weather here, and just dressy enough to make me feel like Audrey Hepburn from Roman Holiday wandering down the winding cobblestone streets.  A perfect vacation dress.
